SESSION PREP GUIDE

A FUN FILLED PAWTRAIT SESSION

Relax. We're going to have fun!

Our session will be casual and relaxed - definitely not rushed. You and your furry family set the tone and pace. During your shoot I'll combine gently posed portraits with capturing spontaneous, unguarded moments as they unfold - no forced poses and awkward smiles here.

Our session will last up to 1-2 hours. This gives us plenty of time to capture the full range of your story together while keeping your pets calm, relaxed and comfortable. It also allows for plenty of play breaks so that your pets don't become bored.

The casual tone of my sessions allow you and your pet to be yourselves in front of the camera. That's when the magic happens.

HOW TO PREPARE YOUR PET

Freshly washed (if possible, a day or two beforehand)
If your pet has long hair, especially around the eyes, a little trim is helpful (if possible)
Don't forget their nails - make sure to give them a quick clip (if they need it)
Wear a nice collar & remove any ugly tags (registration tags) for their session
Don't feed them too close to the session otherwise bribing them with treats won't be as effective :)
If they are extra excited or energetic, a walk beforehand can help
Try to get to the session at least 15 minutes before your scheduled time. You can use this time to let your pet sniff and explore the area beforehand. This usually relaxes the dog a bit more and makes it a little easier to keep their attention.

THINGS TO KNOW

Dogs can remain on lead for their session. Leashes will be removed digitally for any final images that you purchase. (Unless they aren't able to be removed due to the composition or other factors but I'll let you know if that's the case).
If your dog has to wear a halter for their session please be aware that this will remain in the final images - they can't be removed digitally.
If they are extra energetic and you have taken them for a walk before their session, make sure NOT to tire them out. Just use a short walk to burn off some of the energy - not wear them out completely. I always like to try to create some action shots for you and it's best when we can use play (such as running, chasing a ball etc) to create those. And if they're completely wiped before their session even starts then I won't be able to do that for you :)
Practice the 'stay' command. It's ok if they don't have a great 'stay' - I can still get great images, but a little training is great. And if you can practice it in both a sit and stand before they session, it will help.

WHAT TO BRING

Any of your pet's favourite toys
Any special treats they might like (smaller sizes are best)
If your dog has allergies or a special diet then please bring treats for them.

HOW TO PREPARE
(PAW-RENTS)

At your session, the main focus of the session is always your pet first and foremost but often times you will still be in some of the photos with them - even if you didn't intend to be.

There's always moments during a session, when you're playing with your pet, patting them or when they simply sit near your feet that means you'll be in the photos too (or a part of you at least - hands, feet & legs etc). That's why its always best to think about what you want to wear for the session as well as how to get your pet 'camera ready'.

So with that in mind - here are my best tips to help you shine:

WHAT TO WEAR

Solid colours
Simple accessories
Clothes that you are comfortable in, that flatter your body type
Clothes you don't mind getting dirty as you will be sitting down and playing with your pet on the ground during part of your session.
Stylish shoes that you are comfortable in (remember from your pet's perspective and my camera, your shoes are front and centre)

WHAT TO AVOID

Logos and bold patterns
Wrinkled clothing
Sunglasses
Sleeveless shirts, shorts and short skirts
Thongs

WHAT HAPPENS IF IT’S BAD WEATHER

When planning photo shoots for pets, bad weather can mean a few factors like storms, rain, gusty wind or even the heat. As you can imagine pets can overheat quite easily, especially in our hot Sydney temperatures.

If the weather is bad on the day or looks like it could become bad, this includes rain or if it gets too hot for the dogs, then I'll have to make the decision to reschedule the sessions.

You'll be notified via text if it's the day of your session otherwise it will be via email, so make sure you keep an eye out for any messages from me. If you don't hear from me then the sessions are going ahead as planned.

If we do need to reschedule, you'll be sent a link to my online calendar again to book in your new time.

You can choose which images you would like to purchase from the comfort of your own home, in your pyjamas if you want, with your own personal online gallery.

You have the choice between 4 Packages.
